Connection Benchmark lets you run a full connection performance test from your Smart Modem to check your:

• throughput (speeds)
• ping quality
• performance under congestion

You can schedule tests and store them in Test History to see how your network is performing over time, and get a clear picture of your connection performance.

Want to know the ping time of your favourite server in Singapore at 2am and your other favourite server in Colorado at 4pm? Ping Heatmap lets you ping your favourite game’s servers and find out the connection quality of each on a world map.

• Set your Geo Filters using the latest ping information and only use the servers that work best for you.

Adblocker lets you block web-based ads you don't want to see so they won't appear on any devices in your network - including Smart TVs, consoles, mobile apps and more. You can regularly update your blacklist for every device connected to your network. You can also select specific devices to be exempt from blocking.

Traffic Controller lets you restrict the access of specific devices on your network, so they can only use specific applications when you want them to.?Set up your own schedule to automatically freeze the internet for any of your household devices. You can even control the type of internet use on a specific device, for example if someoene should be studying when they're gaming!

• Set Routine – Block traffic on specific applications or devices with ease - ideal for shutting things down at the kids’ bedtime.

To join our Game Optimiser trial you need to be a Telstra customer with:

• an nbn broadband service (excluding nbn basic speed plans, Fixed Wireless) and;
• a Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 with a serial number that begins with CPxxxxxxx, as well as qualify modem eligibility in your MyTelstra app

Some devices need more bandwidth than others such as a PC streaming HD movies - or a serious gaming console. Bandwidth Allocation lets you set aside bandwidth for specific devices - like setting aside a lane on the freeway for emergency vehicles - so gaming always has a dedicated lane in your network.

Quality of Service (QoS) Bandwidth Allocation gives you control to set up dedicated bandwidth for your individual gaming devices. You can also set up minimum reserved bandwidth for application types like file sharing, streaming or gaming. 

Set your bandwidth allocation to always on, or so it only kicks in when you start playing a game.

When devices in your home use up all your internet bandwidth with greedy downloads or multiple video streams, you can get network congestion. ?Just like cars crawling in peak hour traffic, congestion slows down the flow of data through your internet connection.?

But while you usually won’t notice congestion with downloads and most video streaming services because they buffer ahead, with time-sensitive multiplayer gaming  it can present as frustrating lag.

Quality of Service (QoS) Traffic Prioritisation gives you control to prioritise bandwidth within your home for your favourite game.?You can prioritise by device such as your X-box,  tablet or PC.

A common cause of lag in online games is the distance from you to the host or server of your game. The Geo-Filter feature is unique because it filters servers based on distance using the known geography of internet addresses.

You can filter out distant servers and other gamers as well. By setting a distance limit from your home you will only connect to players or servers closer to you.
