Telstra Broadband Protect is the easy way to help keep your family safe online. It works on any device connected to your Telstra home internet, and it’s included in the monthly price while you stay connected on our new internet plans (or any other eligible plan).

Network protection

Your security starts with safer broadband with Network Protection. Network Protection helps protect every device connected to your Telstra home internet from websites hosting known malware, malicious content, scams and viruses.

When we complete your order, Network Protection is automatically enabled so there’s no need for software downloads or installation.

Parental controls and homework time

With one simple setting, you can help protect everyone connected to your Telstra home internet service from known inappropriate sites and content (including visitors using your home Wi-Fi on their own devices). Set internet access times to help manage when the kids can go online in the home, and use Homework Time to restrict social networking and online gaming while they study.

Social network protection

Help detect cyber-bullying, unwanted attention and bad behaviour before it becomes a problem by monitoring your children’s activity on their connected social networks. Frequently asked questions

Yes, apps like Netflix, Foxtel Now, Stan, Binge and Kayo are all available on Telstra TV but you need to sign up for a monthly subscription separately to access their content. You can add Netflix, Binge and Foxtel Now subscriptions to your Telstra account so they’re all on one bill.
Telstra provides a modem when you purchase a new plan or when existing customers need to move to the nbn network. The Telstra Smart Modem works on all our plans so if you already have one, you won't need a new modem when you change plan.

If you are moving to the nbn network Telstra will check your existing Telstra modem to see if it’s nbn-compatible when you make the switch to the nbn network. If it is, we’ll provide you with the hardware you’ll need to connect to the nbn? network. If it’s not nbn-compatible, Telstra will provide you with a new Telstra Smart Modem.

Important: An nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your maximum attainable speed after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan.

Speed Add-on: Superfast and Ultrafast are new nbn speed tiers. As a result, we do not have sufficient data yet to calculate the typical download speeds (7pm-11pm) that these tiers will provide. We will update this information once sufficient data is available. In the meantime, we estimate that these nbn speed tiers will support a typical download speed (7pm-11pm) of at least 215Mbps for the Superfast Add-on and 250Mbps for the Ultrafast Add-on. Telstra Smart Modem? Gen 2: Mobile backup available to premises in 4G coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. Your mobile backup connection is limited to speeds of up to 6Mbps for downloads and 1Mbps for uploads. Actual speeds will vary due to local conditions and content accessed.

Telstra TV: Existing Telstra post-paid service required. Requires a compatible TV with a HDMI port. A minimum internet speed of 3.5Mbps is recommended. Antenna required to access free-to-air channels in your area. Subscription and data charges apply, except when using Telstra TV Box Office. Search not available across all apps. To benefit from HEVC and 4K, content needs to be produced in this format. 4K TV is also required to experience 4K resolution.
